HEETS vs TEREA — What's the Difference? | TEREA HEETS UAE

Short answer: HEETS and TEREA are both heated tobacco sticks made for IQOS, but they are not interchangeable. HEETS work with the older blade-heating IQOS devices (IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS 2.4, IQOS Originals). TEREA works exclusively with IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA ONE and ILUMA PRIME — the current generation sold in the UAE. If you own an ILUMA device, you need TEREA, not HEETS.

Why the confusion?

Many people searching for "HEETS Dubai" or "HEETS UAE" are actually looking for TEREA. That's because HEETS was the original IQOS stick brand, and the name stuck in everyday conversation even after Philip Morris International launched IQOS ILUMA and TEREA as the newer platform. If you bought your IQOS device recently in the UAE, it's almost certainly an ILUMA model — which means TEREA is the stick you actually need, not HEETS.

The core technical difference

  HEETS TEREA
Compatible devices IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS 2.4, IQOS Originals IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA ONE, ILUMA PRIME
Heating method Blade heating — a metal blade inserted into the stick heats the tobacco SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM — a metal element built into the stick itself heats via induction, no blade
Stick design Hollow core for the blade to enter Solid core with an internal susceptor
Cross-compatible? No. HEETS cannot be used in ILUMA devices, and TEREA cannot be used in blade-heating devices. Using the wrong stick in the wrong device can damage the device and will not produce vapor correctly.

Which one do you actually need?

  • You own an IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA ONE or ILUMA PRIME (the current-generation devices, most common in the UAE today) → you need TEREA. Browse all TEREA flavors.
  • You're not sure which device you have → ILUMA devices have no blade opening at the top of the holder — the stick sits flush and heats without anything piercing it. If your device has a visible blade slot, it's an older model that takes HEETS, not TEREA.
  • You're shopping for a new device → every current IQOS device sold in the UAE is an ILUMA model, so TEREA is the stick you'll need going forward. See our IQOS ILUMA buyer's guide to choose between ONE, Standard and PRIME.

Does TEREA taste different from HEETS?

TEREA is formulated specifically for induction heating, which heats more evenly than a blade. Many users report a smoother draw and more consistent flavor from stick to stick compared to older HEETS. TEREA is also available in a wider range of flavors and origin editions — including Indonesia, Japan, Italy, Swiss, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan editions — than were ever released under the HEETS name.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use HEETS in an IQOS ILUMA device?

No. IQOS ILUMA devices use induction heating and are only compatible with TEREA sticks. HEETS are designed for the blade-heating mechanism in older IQOS devices and will not work correctly, or may damage, an ILUMA device.

Is TEREA the same as HEETS with a new name?

No, they're different products built for different heating technology, sold alongside each other rather than one replacing the other. TEREA is made specifically for the SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM in IQOS ILUMA devices.

Do you sell HEETS in the UAE?

We specialise in TEREA for IQOS ILUMA devices, which is what the vast majority of current IQOS users in the UAE need. If you have an older blade-heating IQOS device, look for a retailer specialising in HEETS specifically.

How do I know if my IQOS device takes HEETS or TEREA?

Check the holder: if a metal blade extends into the stick when you insert it, your device takes HEETS. If the stick sits flush with no blade, and your device is labelled ILUMA, ILUMA ONE or ILUMA PRIME, it takes TEREA.

More questions

What is the Smartcore Induction System?

It is the bladeless heating technology in IQOS ILUMA: a heating element inside the TEREA stick is heated by induction, so nothing pierces the stick and there is no blade to clean.

Can I use TEREA in an IQOS ILUMA ONE?

Yes. ILUMA ONE, ILUMA and ILUMA PRIME all work with every TEREA stick.

How many puffs are in a TEREA stick?

Up to 14 puffs, or up to 6 minutes, whichever comes first. Each stick contains 0.5 mg of nicotine.

How many sticks come in a TEREA box?

200 sticks: 10 packs of 20.

Why do people in Dubai search for HEETS when they need TEREA?

HEETS was the original IQOS stick brand and the name stuck in everyday conversation. If you own an ILUMA device, the stick you need is TEREA.

I own an IQOS 3 DUO. Can I switch to TEREA?

Not with your existing device: TEREA needs an ILUMA-family device. ILUMA is the current generation; see the buyer's guide and the ILUMA range.

Does TEREA come in different origin editions?

Yes: Indonesia, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The flavor names describe the same general profile; packaging language, labelling and price differ by edition.

What is the minimum age to buy?

18 or over, in line with UAE Federal Law No. 15 of 2009 on tobacco control.

Which devices do you sell?

IQOS ILUMA, ILUMA ONE and ILUMA PRIME devices, including the ILUMA i series, plus every TEREA stick edition we stock. Browse IQOS ILUMA devices.
